Ride Again

After working in various bands and being primarily a studio musician for many years I decided to create an album of my own music.  It’s been a long time in the making (ask my friends) but I believe the final product is worth it.  Ride Again shows a lot of my influences.  Growing up in Austin there was a constant Country influence.  This never suppressed my love for the Blues and Rock and Roll.  These influences show up on the record.

Chet Atkins once said the key to making a good record was to get the musicians together and let them play.  I believe that.  My desire to keep this record simple and performable helped shape the overall sound of it.  From my viewpoint, this is a “Texas Music” recording.  No one seems to really define that term well but if you go from Brandon Rhyder to Stevie Ray Vaughn to Pat Green to The Fabulous Thunderbirds to George Strait to Los Lonely Boys you start getting an idea of how diverse the term really is.  They’re all Texas Music.  My influences are Texas Music and my Dad and I’m thankful I had the privilege of growing up in the fertile music environment of Austin, Texas.

If you like guitar work there’s plenty of that on this album.  If you like the sound of the tenor saxophone there’s plenty of that too.  Someone introduced me as a singer once.  I was shocked.  I’d always considered myself a guitarist that sang out of necessity.  Anyway, I wrote all these songs and sang them.  I hope you like them, and if you do, I hope you tell all your friends.  I’d like to sell a few CD’s so I can record another album.  Many blessings to you and yours and thank you for reading this.  I hope we see you in your town someday.
